For years, the food allergy community has waited for legislation that would require all food package labels to clearly and thoroughly list any priority allergens among ingredients. For those with food allergies, knowing exactly what they will be eating is crucial. Not knowing can result in a life-threatening reaction.

After consultations with the food industry, the Canadian Society of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, Anaphylaxis Canada, the AAIA, the AQAA and the Canadian Celiac Association, the federal government has developed very good regulations called: The Proposed Regulatory Amendments to Enhance the Labelling of Priority Allergens in Food.

The only problem? They’ve stalled from moving forward into law.

This is why we need to go to the top, to the Prime Minister’s Office. And this is why your help is needed now.

On the next page, Allergic Living provides a letter you can e-mail directly to Prime Minister Harper.

Let the Prime Minister know how much you want this legislation. Tell your family and friends to do so as well.

Allergic Living will post updates on the forum. Thank you for your support!
