Campaign Uses Power of Film To Shine Spotlight on Anaphylaxis
|
|
Allergic Living’s editors are excited to share news of the launch of a new awareness campaign sponsored by Mylan, called Anaphylaxis: For Reel™, which will bring national attention to the serious and unpredictable nature of anaphylaxis, a life-threatening allergic reaction.
|
|
Sarah Jessica Parker is working with Mylan on Anaphylaxis: For Reel™. In addition to her roles as accomplished actor, producer and businesswoman, Sarah Jessica is the mother of a child with allergies to peanuts and hazelnuts. It wasn’t until her son experienced anaphylaxis and was diagnosed with potentially life-threatening (severe) allergies that she realized just how serious the risks are – and how crucial it is to take proactive steps to manage his severe allergies.
Since film is a powerful medium and our community’s stories are often moving and inspiring, Sarah Jessica, leading advocacy organizations and Mylan are encouraging young filmmakers and their families to get involved in Anaphylaxis: For Reel™.
Allergic Living calls on our readers: submit your own short film about the realities of managing severe allergies on Anaphylaxis101.com. It is a unique opportunity to help educate others — and show your creative side.

Guidelines for Your Film
Here are important details to keep in mind while creating your short film:
• Your film should be a creative expression of your personal story, for example, exploring the challenges of living with and managing severe allergies or the “aha” moment you or your loved one may have experienced that led to a change in how you follow your action plan for anaphylaxis. It should also highlight how serious the risks of anaphylaxis can be for someone living with severe allergies and the crucial importance of doing everything possible to avoid allergic triggers.
• Films will be selected based on educational messages, compelling or inspiring storylines, and adherence to Terms and Conditions.
• Deadline and length: Films need to be shot in high-resolution format (mobile phone camera is acceptable) and must be no longer than 5 minutes. Submissions close on July 11, 2016. Only one film submission per person – though parents and guardians may upload one video per child.
The Selected Five Films Will Be...
• Announced in early fall. Each selected filmmaker and a guest will be invited to a New York City premiere event hosted by Sarah Jessica Parker, where the selected films will be featured. The films will also be posted in full on Anaphylaxis101.com.
• Selected by a panel that includes a healthcare professional and members of leading advocacy organizations.
