Talking Allergies

Does anybody know if Rockets (candy) are manufactured in a peanut/nut free environment? I can't find any information on it.

Rockets are manufactured by Ce De Candy. They are known as "Smarties" in the States. They are made in Canada under the name "Rockets" because Nestle owns the rights to the name "Smarties" in Canada. According to the smarties.com website, Smarties (or Rockets), are "free from all the known allergens and they do not appear anywhere in our manufacturing facility".

I went ahead and called and spoke with a very helpful lady -- Rockets are manufactured in Canada (not imported from the States) and they are free of: peanuts, tree nuts, dairy, egg, fish, shellfish, soy, and do not contain gluten (from wheat, barley, oats, rye).
She said that they also verify with their suppliers of raw matierials regarding possible contamination with allergens and there are no concerns.
I have some additional information about Ce De Candy Co. that I'm going to list under a separate topic heading under "shopping".

Just got off the phone with Shirley -- confirmed all of the above to still be the case.
As well, rings and necklaces in the 3lb Assortment Bags for Hallowe'en are still manufactured in China (despite the bag's labelling that reads "Made in Canada") -- they have documentation from China that states that plant where they are made is peanut and nut free but wants consumers to decide for themselves. (Especially with all of the food related issues coming out of China lately...).
She added they cannot state they are "peanut or nut free" because they do not restrict what their employees bring in for lunch, etc. but employees are educated about cross-contamination and allergens, and they have good manufacturing policies in place.
